IT Support Technician

Job Description

Full-time position available for IT Support Technician. Under general supervision, the IT Support Technician provides technical computer software, hardware, and network problem resolution to our clients. Most often this involves problem-diagnosis and providing solutions. The IT Support Technician clearly communicates technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner and assists other IT personnel in performing work related to various technical systems, as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Field all IT help desk calls/tickets and create the initial record of the request.
Identify, diagnose and resolve various technical problems for clients.
Document solutions and provide feedback for improvement upon departmental and campus technology, solutions and processes.
Deliver, set up, and assist in the configuration of end-user PC desktop hardware and software.
Provide initial software support for client systems, as required.
Provide assistance with servers, storage, network, telephony, audio/video, security, and other related equipment, as needed.
Provide on-call and after-hours support on an as-needed basis.
Coordinate with clients regarding service requests, providing and supporting required technical equipment.
Assist with and provide support for new client orientation procedures.
Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Possesses the ability to: deliver technical customer support over the phone or in-person; identify, troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of level-one technical computer-related problems.
Possesses knowledge of desktop operating systems, various software applications, and basic hardware for the PC; principles and theories of network systems and management; Internet technologies and products.
Server/directory administration and configuration experience preferred.
Must be comfortable with presenting and conducting training/orientation sessions for clients, as needed.
Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer. Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree is not necessary! Technical School degree, Computer Science, Microsoft Certification, Associates degree or similar schooling is preferred. It’s more important to have a burning desire to learn and grow in our field.

1+ year experience working with Web Technologies (ASP.NET, basic HTML,.NET Framework, C# or Java), which includes having examples of your work

Experience working with Visual Studio 2003 or newer

Basic Knowledge working with a SQL language (Preferably MS SQL)

Basic Knowledge of XML

Good team player with a pro-active, “can do” attitude and ability to follow-through

Excellent work ethic, time management, organizational, communication and listening skills
